| Finally! The Secret to Building Lasting Self-Esteem in Young Girls. Move Over Britney, Lindsay, and Paris. A New, Healthy Role Model is Here. DENVER, CO (October 2007) – Eating disorders, depression, substance abuse, and even suicide, are at all-time highs among teenage girls. The idolization in our society of role models who suggest unhealthy lifestyles only fuels these issues, creating a passionate quest to protect our youth. A new book, Beauty’s Secret, offers hope by teaching self-esteem to girls in a unique way, delivering a much-needed message to the vulnerable pre-teen market. Scheduled for release February 14, 2008, it is the first book in the upcoming and uplifting Heartlight Girls series. This series empowers girls from the inside out, at the core, where self-esteem begins, prior to reaching the turbulent teen years. A recent survey indicated that 90% of moms believe there are not enough wholesome role models, celebrities, characters and brands for young girls to emulate. It’s no wonder parents and educators are so enthusiastic about self-esteem books and programs. Many self-esteem materials, however, offer an outside in approach, teaching girls to make positive statements about themselves in the hope that enough affirmative self-talk will eventually sink in and make a lasting change. Yet, evidence shows it is one’s inner belief that creates one’s outer reality; this also being the message behind the popular movie, The Secret, viewed by over 300 million people worldwide So unless a girl truly believes what she is saying, lasting change is virtually impossible. Few materials existed to serve this goal until now. press release continued |
